Every Thursday Tom McGinley, who holds the RCVS certificate in equine dentistry, is based at the hospital holding clinic and performing dental procedures.ย
Services on offer range from routine examination and treatment through to advanced procedures such as diastema treatment, restorations (fillings) and extractions.ย
The clinic is well equipped with diagnostic tools such as x-ray, CT and oroscopy along with modern surgical equipment.
Understanding of equine dentistry and the range of treatments available have advanced significantly in recent years. In virtually all cases treatment can be performed in a standing patient, without the need for a general anaesthetic.ย
If you have any concerns regarding your horse’s dental health or simply require a regular check up, please contact us at the hospital on 01428 723594.

We are seeking an Equine Stud Vet to join our ambulatory team either in a seasonal or longer term capacity. A minimum of 5 yearsโ experience in equine practice is desirable.ย We have a diverse client base including thoroughbred studs, sport horse studs, embryo transfer and chilled and frozen AI.ย Our ideal candidate will either have or aspire to achieve a post graduate qualification in stud medicine and ideally will have an interest in helping us grow and develop the repro part of our practice.ย Whilst we anticipate that reproduction will be your primary interest, candidates must be willing and able to carry out all aspects of an ambulatory role and especially so for those seeking a permanent rather than seasonal position.ย Excellent client communications skills and ability to work as part of a team are vital.
We currently have a team of ten equine ambulatory vets (including 7 RCVS certificate holders) with the most up to date mobile diagnostic equipment and reproductive scanners.ย We are a BEVA approved Centre for Chilled and Frozen AI and have an onsite laboratory approved by BEVA for running CEM samples by culture and qPCR. The ambulatory team has full back up of our tier 3 hospital which includes 10 RCVS specialists and full range of facilities such as Scintigraphy, CT and MRI.
This is a fantastic opportunity for the right candidate to further develop their skills and advance their career. The practice offers an excellent working environment with a highly competitive package.
