Join Rachel Tucker, European Specialist in Equine Surgery, for a webinar as she talks about her first 6 months of performing foraminotomy surgery. The surgical widening of a narrowed intervertebral foramen can be performed to relieve associated pain and loss of nerve function caused by spinal nerve compression within the neck. We are excited to have brought this minimally invasive surgery to the UK and would like to share our experiences with diagnosis and treatment of this condition, as well as surgical outcomes so far. We invite physiotherapists to join us on the 9thย July for an evening of talks and discussion focussed on our current understanding and treatment of key conditions of the caudal neck.

The CT scanning of over 200 necks at LEH has transformed our understanding of neck conditions in the horse, revealing previously unrecognised conditions and driving the innovation of new treatment options, whilst raising as many questions as answers. European Specialists, Rachel Tucker and Lucy Meehan, will talk you through everything from diagnostics to new, innovate surgeries performed here at LEH.
ย
Doors will open at 6:30pm with lectures starting at 7pm. Nibbles and drinks will be provided.

House vets join us on an 18-month internship programme, forming part of a 5 vet team who provide a central role in ensuring the smooth running of the hospital and helping to care for inpatients, whilst benefitting from the experience of seeing a wide and varied case load. House vets are qualified vets who will generally have spent 18 to 24 months working in general practice before joining LEH. A house vet is allocated to each inpatient and they work closely with the specialist surgeon or medic responsible for the case. There is always a house vet on site overnight together with 2 night nurses to ensure that we are able to provide essential round the clock care to your horses, ponies and donkeys.
