Stuart Duncan




Stuart graduated from Glasgow University Veterinary School in 1980.He then spent 5 years in mixed practice in Essex and Gloucestershire. Following a year’s sabbatical spent working and travelling in Australia and New Zealand he joined The Liphook Equine Hospital in 1985. He became a partner in 1988 and is now the senior partner in charge of the first opinion side of the practice. Stuart gained the post graduate qualification Certificate in Equine Practice in 1989. Having been awarded a BEVA Travel Scholarship, he embarked on an externship at The New Bolton Centre, Pennsylvania and Leesburg, Virginia, USA, which involved studying ultrasound Imaging and cardiology. Stuart is also on the official FEI veterinary list for eventing,he also contributes articles for Dressage Magazine, and for the past 10 years has written for Horse and Rider Magazine.
Stuart’s interests in equine practice range from pleasure to competition horses. He enjoys the challenges of investigating medical conditions and is interested in all aspects of lameness, poor performance and diagnostic imaging.
