Referrals
Refer a case to Liphook Equine Hospital.

How to refer to us
We recognise that there are many different reasons to refer a case, and we are always happy to discuss a case with you prior to committing to a referral.
If you wish to refer an emergency or urgent case during office hours, please call the hospital office on 01428 727200. Out of hours, please call 01428 727727.
For non-urgent referrals, please call the hospital office on 01428 727200.
Alternatively, you may submit a referral form and one of our receptionists will call you back within one working day to discuss your requirements.
Generally, for non-urgent appointments, we will contact the owners directly to arrange the appointment details.
In order to provide optimal care to the referred horse, we request that referring veterinarians should provide us with a full case history for any case they are referring to, including the results of any diagnostic procedures they have already undertaken and any treatment or medication that the horse has received.
Why refer to us?
Our hospital clinicians are highly experienced in their field, and are dedicated to providing your clients’ horses with the very best treatment and care.
We recognise that the quality of the nursing team plays a huge part in the overall care your clients’ horses receive, and many of our large nursing team hold additional nursing qualifications in equine nursing.
Our large, purpose-built equine hospital has extensive facilities, with stabling for up to 50 horses, intensive care units, large ménage and dedicated trot up and lunging areas, large fully equipped surgery suite, advanced equine diagnostic imaging equipment including digital radiography and ultrasonography, scintigraphy and magnetic resonance imaging.
There is also a large designated equine laboratory on site enabling us to perform rapid clinical pathology.
We will support you with readily available advice on cases, even if they are not referred, free verbal reporting of radiographs and educational resources such as a regular CPD programme, a regular newsletter and downloadable information sheets on our website.
We are very happy for you to visit us and we welcome colleagues who want to see our hospital.
Our commitment to you
We will send you a detailed report after we have seen the case. If a horse is hospitalised, we will also keep you updated about their progress.
If at any stage you would like an update on a case in the hospital, or some advice about a case you are managing, please do call us or send an email.
We will fax or e-mail you a copy of the discharge instructions on the day the horse is discharged, so that you know the patient has gone home and you will be up to date, should the client contact you before our final report arrives.
We will usually discharge the animal with sufficient medication to last them for five to 10 days, but will rely on you to dispense ongoing long term medication or to remove sutures.
