Acupuncture
We have vets who are trained in performing acupuncture, which may occasionally be used alone, or more frequently in conjunction with conventional veterinary medicine to treat a wide variety of conditions.

About Acupuncture
Acupuncture involves the insertion of needles into specific points in the body to promote a desired healing effect. The insertion of the needles is virtually painless.
The insertion of needles at specific points (depending on the condition) by stimulating sensory nerves in the skin and muscles can result in the body producing natural substances, such as pain relieving endorphins.
It is likely that these substances are responsible for the perceived beneficial effects of acupuncture.

Health conditions in horses that may benefit from acupuncture include:
– Musculoskeletal conditions (e.g. back and neck pain, lameness).
– Recurrent colic and digestive disturbances.
– Respiratory disease (viral or allergic).
– Post-viral fatigue.
– Behavioural problems (often associated with pain).
– Chronic eye conditions.
