Cryptosporidium

Faecal sample

Cryptosporidium is a genus of protozoa with certain species such as C. parvum and C. hominis recognised as a cause of diarrhoea in neonatal foals and also has zoonotic potential. Might occur alone or alongside other infectious causes of diarrhoea in foals. Might also be sometimes found in healthy foals so presence is not always definitive for causation.
