Faecal sample
These are the major pathogenic toxins of Clostridium difficile (along with binary toxin). It is unusual to find these toxins in healthy animals although they have sometimes been reported in some healthy foals and adults. Relatively common cause of diarrhoea of varying severity in
foals and adults. Has been reported in association with enteric neoplasia in the absence of diarrhoea, presumably from growth in necrotic tissue. Also seen in some cyathostominosis cases, presumably again due to growth in necrotic mucosa.
