Liphook Equine Hospital Laboratory has provided ‘in house’ laboratory services for more than thirty years, and expanded in 1999 to provide a postal service for colleagues in practice.  The service has now expanded to a team of three veterinary specialists supported by eleven highly experienced dedicated laboratory staff.

We are a small team and aim to deliver a personal service with exceptional administrative and clinical support.  The service is run by clinicians for clinicians, and all of the vets offering interpretations are specialists in internal medicine as well as benefitting from extensive experience of ambulatory first opinion practice.  We aim to maintain a practical and realistic approach and our advice is intended to assist you with ensuing client communication and likely follow-up investigations.  We also welcome further discussion on cases and blood results, and are happy to be contacted via the Laboratory or direct to our vets’ emails or mobiles – advice is available at any time 24/7.

We understand the frustrations of waiting for laboratory results and make every effort to minimise turn-around times with our primary aim being to provide a rapid and reliable service 6 days a week.  Urgent samples are prioritised at no extra charge and submissions can also be processed out-of-hours if you can get the samples to us.  We can report to you by email, fax, phone, text or post and any combination of the above.  We can also report to multiple vets and branches and via different methods to best suit your practice’s needs.

We undergo stringent and frequent external quality assurance procedures in addition to daily internal quality assurances checks.  Our laboratory staff have a wealth of experience in their respective areas of interest and take enormous pride in the accuracy of their work.

Whilst offering a service that is of the highest quality we also aim to be competitive on price and are able to customise profiles to suit your needs; e.g. if you want a particular set of “pre-race screen” biochemistry tests for an individual racing client, then just let us know.  We also offer discounts on bulk submissions, free lab supplies (blood tubes, cytospin) and free sample kits for TW/BAL samples and Strangles investigations.

As a laboratory we have a strong scientific and academic ethos and, in addition to performing large amounts of self-funded research, are always prepared to provide preferential rates for other research projects.  By being actively involved in clinical research ourselves, we are able to pass on to you the latest in scientific opinion.

I’m not sure I would survive first opinion equine practice without you guys on the end of the telephone!
